DON BESTOR inducted into the SOFTBALL HALL of FAME

Generally acclaimed as the most skilled fast pitch player of the modern era, Don was such an outstanding athlete that he could defeat opponents five ways.

A third baseman with a quick sure glove, he had a cannon arm. Often, in bunting situations, Don would charge within 15 feet of the batter before the pitch arrived at the plate. On the base path, his speed enabled him to beat out infield hits, as well as take extra bases. He hit for a high average with power.

Don hit the first home run out of Kiesler Field in a fast pitch game July 20, 1965. His most celebrated home run of the hundreds he hit may have been on June 15th of that same year. On that night, at fairgrounds park, in front of 2,500 fans, he went yard off the famed Eddie Feigner, (King and his Court) at a time when Feigner was in his prime.

Don starred for many championship teams including Jimmy's, Oscar's, Fox's, and the 101 Club. But that's not all. He was the recipient of countless M.V.P. and all tournament honors at the local, state, and national levels. He was named to the Central Wisconsin All Star Team, ASA District 5 Most Valuable Player, and ASA State Tournament M.V.P. Don's playing career spanned from 1947 to 1974. Without a doubt, Don was one of the Best!
